Mark Webber Drives Porsche Trip Success
Porsche commences an excursion into the Australian wilderness in a Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, with honored ex-Formula 1 racer and Porsche representative Mark Webber driving.
The target may initially appear to simply be a journey for fun and exploration, yet the trek illustrates that EVs can successfully manage long-distance trips even in far-flung destinations; ease concerns of range limitation gone! Difficulties occurred throughout the trip but charging was a prominent one. The Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, with its EPA ranking of 230 miles, rendered driving from Darwin to Tennant Creek more of an effort.
“I’m really looking forward to this journey,” Webber declared prior to setting off. “I love taking my enduro bike on long rides and I’m always on the lookout for something that will spark my creativity. But I’ve never been brave enough to venture into the wilderness. There’s nobody around, and some of the land can be very unforgiving. A breakdown in such a place could be a real nightmare.”
Webber and Christophorus, the Porsche customer magazine, embarked from Darwin on a journey southward. Fast-charging stations were scant, so they were dependent on less-efficient alternating-current charge points. For the 1,690-mile travel along the Stuart Highway, initially initiated in 1940 and finalised in 1987, a Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo was chosen.
After navigating 139 miles, the Taycan Cross Turismo pulled up at its opening destination of Pike Creek. To their merriment, the lone inn there had a communal air conditioning recharging station that could supply double the wattage expected by Porsche’s engineers. The exploration continued with an afternoon on a river excursion throughout the Nitmiluk Gorge and come twilight, the troupe headed towards Cicada Lodge.
The next morning, the 563-horsepower Taycan Cross made its way south towards Elsey National Park, where temperatures soared to a max of 93.2° Fahrenheit – exceeding the most advantageous temperature for increasing the electric vehicle’s reach.
The squad declared they never encountered any doubts regarding range on the excursion, which was likely because of adroit arranging before the voyage began. The long-range journey led them to spots like Larrimah Hotel, Caravan Park, a former airstrip settlement of Daly Waters, Tennant Creek, and Devils Marbles prior to arriving at their final place of destination, Tennant Creek.
In conclusion, the Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo was able to traverse a total of 798 miles while consuming 321 kWh in energy. Through the excursion, exciting sights were unearthed without exceeding an expenditure of 100 euros (around $110) for charging fees, demonstrating that the prices for driving the exercise vehicle are much the same as those of a gasoline-run car with 25 mpg capabilities.
“I never would have imagined that an electric car could make it through the outback so easily,” Webber exclaimed. “It’s definitely given me new ideas for future journeys!”
