V10 hypercar logs 16,000+ miles, retains high value
A remarkable 2005 Porsche Carrera GT is now available for purchase on Hemmings. This eye-catching vehicle flaunts a glistening GT Silver Metallic exterior and boasts numerous sought-after features. Furthermore, it has recently undergone pricey maintenance due to sporadic usage.
Having a total of 16,571 miles logged, this stunning vehicle with its V10 engine has been actively driven and appreciated to some extent, a rarity among high-performance cars of any kind. Several Carrera GTs that we have come across have simply gathered dust over the years; in fact, a few years ago, we came across a model with an astonishingly low 27 recorded miles on its odometer.
Specialized equipment such as this demands additional caution and maintenance when operated on a regular basis. Fortunately, the proprietor of this vehicle has not held back, recently investing upwards of $80,000 for a substantial service involving engine removal.
The Carrera GT’s iconic design is further enhanced by the striking GT Silver Metallic paint (one of the five original factory colors). This elegant shade perfectly complements the car’s timeless silhouette. Sitting behind the five-spoke alloy wheels, you can catch a glimpse of the carbon ceramic brakes peeking through.
As you enter the cabin, you will notice that the previous owner of the Porsche chose to install XT bucket seats that are 0.59 inches wider in the hip region. These seats have been upholstered in Dark Grey leather, complemented by aluminum-style details. It may seem subdued for a high-performance car, but it still has athletic elements to add some excitement. One such feature is the Carrera GT Custom Tailoring package, which features a carbon fiber steering wheel and gear shifter. The sleek material is also visible on the seat backs.
It is uncommon to spot the classic Porsche model without its signature beech wood gearshift knob.
In addition to its opulent leather detailing, this CGT boasts a variety of lavish features such as air conditioning and the state-of-the-art Porsche Online Pro CD audio system. There are also several additional add-ons available, such as floor mats and a protective cover for the car.
Underneath the hood of this extraordinary masterpiece lies a naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V10 engine, delivering an impressive 605 horsepower and 435 lb-ft of torque. With no assistance from driver aids, the Carrera GT is not suitable for the faint-hearted. However, those with the skill to handle it will be handsomely rewarded. The carbon fiber monocoque was strategically designed to provide an exhilarating driving experience, and combined with the powerful engine, it could launch the Carrera GT from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. In today’s world, a 911 Turbo S may outpace the CGT effortlessly, but true enthusiasts will always choose the classic legend without hesitation.
Although it may not be considered a steal, a $1,250,000 supercar can be seen as relatively more affordable compared to other recently listed GTs. For instance, a yellow version was put up for sale at nearly twice the price.
