Smart EV: 430HP Dual Motor Power
A new video captures two markedly different cars with a Brabus logo on it, going head-to-head in a few drag races. The first car is the 850-horsepower Mercedes-Benz GLE, competing against the second vehicle which is the 430-hp Smart #1 Brabus. This second vehicle being fully electric.
The Smart model boasts a twin-motor electric powertrain which produces 430hp and a relentless 427lb-ft (580Nm) of torque to each wheel. At its launch in August 2022, the Brabus-modified EV proclaimed it could accelerate from a halt to 62mph in just 3.9 seconds.
The EV is noticeably different from the other vehicles in the #1 range with its bolder front bumper, red trims, and new air intakes, however there is no external Brabus signifying present. On the interior, the Smart #1 comes equipped with red seatbelts, Brabus emblems, and vibrant red stitching.
The GLE boasts a humongous 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 powerplant, with an impressive output of 850 hp as well as 1,069 ft-lbs (1,450 Nm) of torque. This tuned engine is 265 horsepower more potent than the conventional Mercedes model, even though it weighs approximately 5,180 pounds (2,350 kg). In comparison, the electric variant only tips the scales at 4,188 lbs (1,900 kg).
Brabus assertions that they can accelerate to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds and boasts a top speed of 199 mph, making it perfect for half-mile running bouts. Aside from the turbocharged power, the sports utility vehicle also comes equipped with some spectacular stylistic modifications.
The modified GLE carried markedly more horsepower than the #1, however it was unable to make up the distinction against the electric vehicle’s brisk powertrain. The two had a solid start in the initial competition, yet the Smart GPS ultimately pulled ahead, dominating the SUV. Similar results were seen in the second race with the EV completing the quarter-mile in exactly 12.1 seconds. Even so, the GLE posted a remarkably commendable 12.4-second time.
The Smart proved victorious in the initial rolling competition as the GLE racer failed to shift gears correctly. The SUV triumphed in its next rolling challenge, stopping at the shortest point and consequently claiming its sole victory in the contest.
The Smart’s triumph is awe-inspiring, taking into account its much less amount of energy, however, it utilizes it productively. The GLE isn’t leisurely – the EV is simply swifter, a perk of the technology.
