Sneak Peek: Jeep’s 2021 Easter Safari Builds Are Extraordinary

Toledo Brand: What’s in Store

As we approach the 58th annual Easter Jeep Safari, taking place later this month, the automaker based in Toledo has unveiled two new concepts. These exciting previews give us a sneak peek at what we can anticipate during the event in Moab, Utah from March 23rd to 31st.

In the initial photograph, we are presented with a vehicle that appears to be a Wrangler painted in High Velocity color. The black-painted seven-slot grille and trim elements are noticeable features, giving it a subtle yet distinct appearance from a typical Wrangler. However, upon closer look, there are a few hints that set it apart. The embossed ‘Willys’ text and its corresponding font on the side of the hood pay tribute to the original military Willys Jeep, indicating the potential for another military-inspired design.

Jeep and the Willys brand have a strong connection to 20th-century military endeavors. American General Dwight D. Eisenhower acknowledged that triumph would have been unattainable without the Willys vehicle and its impressive abilities.

An article shared by the Jeep brand on their official social media account depicts the rugged and adventurous nature of their vehicles. Jeep could be considering honoring its origins by creating a special vehicle for the annual Easter Jeep Safari event. In the previous year, the company unveiled seven unique concepts at this safari, and among them was the Jeep ’41 Concept, paying homage to the iconic Willys Jeep. It is uncertain what approach the company will take with their latest concept, but there is potential for it to deviate from the past.

The quote “The Universal Jeep” can be seen on an old print advert above the hood. This could be a nod to the Willys model of the same name, also known as the Jeep Universal, which was sold in the 1950s and 1960s. This lineup included the CJ-3A, CJ-3B, and early editions of the CJ-5. It is possible that the build shown above is paying tribute to these iconic off-roaders.

The second variation, shown in the image below, offers a glimpse of another design. However, upon closer examination of the hints, it becomes clear that this will not be your typical Jeep for off-roading.

The second photo presents a more daring and bold design. The color of Firecracker Red has been coupled with a striking white racing stripe that extends across the car’s front. Along the lower portion of the stripe, there is an indistinct ‘392’ emblem hinting at a potential V8 engine under the hood.

A 470-horsepower 6.4-liter Hemi engine certainly adds a touch of exhilaration to an off-road vehicle, but we can confidently say that this will not be your typical rough terrain explorer.

The wide fenders and noticeable vents on the side indicate that this vehicle may be intended for intense rally or Baja racing, much like the impressive Trailcat concept unveiled in 2016. There is a possibility that Jeep will enhance the power of the 392 engine with some notable modifications, but only time will tell. One thing is certain, though – it will be a sight to behold.

According to Jeep, the upcoming creative builds will showcase “unrivaled heritage, bold color palettes and powerful propulsion suited for any adventure.”
