Subaru Sports Car: Unveiled This Month

Electric BRZ: Mystery and Beyond

Subaru has planned to deliver eight electric vehicles to the United States within the next decade, with a potential addition of a sporty two-door coupe as previewed by the Japan Mobility Show’s upcoming concepts. Titled the Subaru Sport Mobility concept, an image which briefly alludes to its silhouette as a sleek car.

Subaru has unveiled an electric concept model that they say “foreshadows the evolution of Subaru Sport value.” This model could be the standard for future sporty vehicles from the company. At this point, no further details have been revealed, but Subaru insists that even if their cars are electric, people should still be able to derive pleasure from the driving experience.

Previously, Subaru revealed an electric STI idea called the STI-E-RA with four engines and 1,073 horsepower, that was projected to race on the Nurburgring in 6 minutes and 40 seconds. This new concept obviously isn’t derived from this old one, as it boasts a various aesthetics, especially noticed through its lacking of a roof scoop, rear wing, and slender, LED headlights in its front fascia.

“It appears that the new concept has fairings over the rear wheels, suggesting this may be more of a ‘wild concept’ than a ‘production intent.’ This could indicate that the vehicle’s design is more for show than for practical purposes.”

In the absence of a halo electric vehicle equivalent to the Subaru STI E-RA, where could it position itself in the automaker’s portfolio? The obvious response appears to be an electrified, all-new Subaru BRZ.

Subaru has not experienced the same amount of success with the BRZ that Toyota enjoys with the GR86, mainly due to the discrepancy in magnitude between the companies and their usually aligned demographics. Nevertheless, the BRZ/GR86 combination aided in the appearance of economical sports cars once more. Earlier reports intimated that Toyota was going to produce the 3rd edition 86 unaccompanied by its Subaru counterpart, position Subaru to diverge its sports car product.

Henceforth, sports cars shall not conclude with the ending of combustion in some territories, depicting Subaru’s goal of continuing to generate sports cars for the forthcoming transportation period.

The up-and-coming innovation will be exhibited aside from the sole current electric car of the company – the Solterra – as well as the recently unveiled Levorg Layback, Forester, and Crosstrek Limited.

At the Japan Mobility Show, Honda will divulge a groundbreaking sports vehicle, while Mazda appears to be introducing an electric concept that provides a glimpse into what’s ahead for the MX-5.

We will uncover additional details when the exhibition takes place on October 25.
