Toyota’s Hilux has a rich legacy that dates all the way back to 1968. Due to the success of its replacement — the hugely popular Toyota Tacoma — the Hilux is unfortunately no longer available in the United States, but it’s still held in high regard. We miss having such an incredible truck in our market and can certainly say it was one of the finest.

The embattled Hilux has seen its fair share of turmoil. Its proprietor openly confesses to subjecting it to extreme treatment, making frequent use of off-roading and jump-filled excursions. In spite of the wear-and-tear its formerly pristine exterior has suffered, this Toyota pickup amazingly continues to run; an impressive indication of its strength and sturdiness.
The various pieces of the suspension have suffered numerous breaks and malfunctions, but the truck persists. Despite upgrading the motor from its original 2.2-liter to a more potent 2.4-liter power plant, the owner states the engine has stayed dependable all this while.
When questioned about how to reach such an impressive accomplishment, the proprietor underlined the need to pick a car which is manageable to take care of and repair. He did not indulge the truck as much as he could but mentioned how solid it was constructed.
It is a faint wish that we may once again see the Hilux badge making its appearance in this country. However, there remains a slim possibility considering Toyota has a new pick-up coming down the line.
