In January of 2022, Toyota caused a stir by unveiling the GR GT3 prototype at the Tokyo Auto Salon. In later months, leaked patent images from the European Union Intellectual Property Office suggested that a production version of the sports car was in the works, minus the prominent rear wing. This news was soon confirmed by Toyota, who had already begun the development process. As we fast forward to January 2024, a visit to the EUIPO website reveals a new and intriguing addition – the GR GT logo.
According to our associates at Auto Guide, the trademark was uncovered on January 19. An attached patent image of the GR GT3 reveals this discovery. The big question is: Is Toyota planning to utilize this logo for a high-performance vehicle? While there are other possibilities, one speculation is that it will be utilized as the branding for an upcoming race car. In recent times, the team director for Toyota WEC, Rob Leupen, revealed to our affiliate site Motorsport.com that the GR GT3 will take part in the WEC in Europe beginning in 2026.
In the same interview, he reiterated, “The date [2026] is in alignment with the road car side, which is following the philosophy of Toyota to have a motorsport-bred car on the road. This is moving forward at the moment.” He further affirmed that the street-legal version would most likely bear the Lexus emblem, thus ruling out the possibility of it being named the Toyota GR GT. Of course, this is assuming that the higher-ups do not have a change of plans in the future.

Following the discontinuation of the Mazda 6 in the United States in 2021 and the United Kingdom in 2023, the Japanese automaker has announced that the midsize sedan/wagon duo will also be discontinued in Japan. Even though production for the domestic market will come to an end in the middle of April, the aging model will still be manufactured for export markets.
As indicated by a representative from the company who spoke with Car Expert, production of the Mazda6 will continue in Vietnam. Despite being on the market for quite some time, this car has managed to hold its ground as one of the more established models, with its third generation being introduced back in 2012. While most vehicles have a life cycle of 6-7 years, the Mazda6 has reached the impressive age of 12 and will persist for now. The Australian division of the company has officially confirmed that the 6 will remain available in their market.
