2024 bZ4X: A Tempting Choice for Electric Vehicle Buyers?

The bZ4X electric crossover by Toyota has been recently revamped for MY2024 with the addition of advanced convenience and charging capabilities.

The XLE versions are advantaged by an eight-way adaptable driver’s chair and a motorized hatch, while the Limited comes with Advanced Park included. This feature allows for effortless parking in either perpendicular or parallel spaces. These two levels of trims boast ample specifications, with the basic XLE including 18-inch alloy wheels, a stationary panoramic glass top, and dual-zone air conditioning among other features.

The 2024 bZ4X models offer an impressive range of luxuries, including upgraded features such as heated and ventilated front seats, Softex upholstery, and a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel. Most notably, all models come equipped with a dual-voltage charging cable that allows for both Level One and Level Two charging.

Moreover, pertinent details such as the distance a vehicle can travel on a single charge, the time it takes to fully charge, and the current battery level will be shown on the digital dashboard. Those who own 2023 versions will have access to this functionality by getting a software update installed by their dealership.

In order to entice potential buyers to visit their showroom, Toyota has introduced a new promotion where those who buy or lease a 2024 bZ4X will receive a full year of free charging at EVgo public stations located throughout the nation. This perk is accessed through the convenient Toyota App and serves as an attractive incentive for those interested in switching to an electric vehicle.

Toyota may see this as a method for boosting their sales. The bZ4X has not been a successful product since its release, with several dealers reporting that there are still unsold models on their lots even after 200 days.

In terms of pricing, the upcoming 2024 bZ4X will commence at $43,070 for the XLE model and $47,180 for the more luxurious Limited edition. For those seeking all-wheel drive, the XLE variant will cost $45,150, while the Limited AWD option is priced at $49,260.

The bZ4X is priced similarly to the Tesla Model Y, positioning it in direct competition. While the Model Y offers impressive performance and a claimed longer range, even its base RWD model can travel up to 260 miles and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.6 seconds. Adding insult to injury, the Model Y’s starting price is nearly identical at $43,990.

Just a friendly reminder, the XLE FWD boasts an impressive estimated range of 252 miles, placing it at the top of the charts. The Limited FWD follows closely behind with a range of 236 miles, while the XLE AWD comes in at 228 miles and the Limited AWD at 222 miles.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E Select comes at a more affordable price of $42,995 and has an impressive range of 250 miles on just one charge. However, if you’re a loyal fan of the brand and are looking to upgrade from a hybrid without frequently embarking on long trips, the bZ4X may be the perfect fit for you. It’s important to point out that Subaru’s latest addition, the Solterra, is essentially a rebranded version of the bZ4X.
