Pikes Peak Live presented by Mobil 1

A great number of hill climb events take place around the world, however, none compare to the celebrated Pikes Peak. In 2023, spectators all over will observe the 101st running up the renowned Colorado summit. Tune in to watch the thrilling race on Sunday, June 25 beginning at 9 a.m. Eastern /6 a.m. Pacific for your live viewing.

What sets Pikes Peak apart? To start off with, drivers must traverse no fewer than 156 corners along the 12.4-mile rally track. Many are accompanied by considerable risks in the event of an error, particularly due to the steep drops off the edges of mountain slopes. Even though it’s only 12.4 miles, participants will climb almost a mile during the course; they kick off at 9,390 feet and finish at the peak of 14,115 feet. Because of this, racers may have to adjust to varying climates over the duration. Above all else, however, there is the challenge of crafting a powerful motor that can cope with such abrupt altitude changes.

Similar to the famous Nurburgring, Pike Peak has become something of a feather in the cap for automakers attempting to post record times. In 2022, Porsche boasted a remarkable performance-vehicle record by having a base 911 Turbo S travel up the mountain in just 9 minutes and 53.5 seconds. Though, there was some debate surrounding the achievement as the climb did not take place during an official race. The climate in June was inclement, and so Porsche took advantage of the new regulation that permitted a sanctioned run out of the racing course. After returning in September, the team completely annihilated the past record time by almost thirty seconds.

Porsche wasn’t the only timeless marque achieving momentous feats upon the hillside during 2022. Lamborghini made a claim to the title of quickest production SUV for the grade, recording a time of 10 minutes and 32 seconds in one of their Urus models. Divergent from Porsche’s performance, this feat occurred during the course of the actual racing but Lamborghini only announced it in August.

For 2023, several automakers have plans to tackle Pikes Peak. Acura shall be presenting an array of cars, with Alpine anticipating superiority from the A110, and Ford putting all bets on its 1,400-horsepower electric SuperVan 4.2. Attention will also be focused on Block family members, with Lucy advancing in the Unlimited class wielding the Sierra Echo Block Edition contested by Hypercraft. Although not participating in the timed runs, Lia will flaunt her skills by muscling a 1,400-hp Hoonipigasus Porsche 911 in an exhibition course. At Pikes Peak, both are honoring Ken Block – husband of Lucy and father of Lia – who sadly passed away due to a snowmobile crash earlier this year.

The livestream is slated to begin at 9:00 AM Eastern Time, with the first session scheduled to take off around half an hour afterward. The event will come to a conclusion at 4:00 PM, and we will provide uninterrupted coverage for the entirety of the stream.

  1. A lot of of the things you point out is astonishingly legitimate and it makes me wonder why I had not looked at this with this light previously. Your piece truly did switch the light on for me as far as this topic goes. But there is actually one factor I am not too comfortable with and while I make an effort to reconcile that with the main idea of the point, allow me observe just what the rest of the visitors have to say.Nicely done.
