The recently unveiled BMW M4 CS has arrived, boasting impressive speed capabilities. Its performance is not limited to straight-line speed alone. The vehicle has managed to complete a lap around the 12.9-mile Norschliefe circuit at the Nürburgring in just 7 minutes and 21.99 seconds, positioning it as one of the swiftest production cars from BMW at the renowned Green Hell track.
The current record holder is the BMW M4 CSL, which achieved a lap time of 7:20.20 in 2022. This creates a gap of 1.79 seconds. Take a look at the video of the M4 CS completing its lap below and see if the driver can locate an additional two seconds while navigating through the complex corners.
The Nordschleife is an extensive track, and while there may be some areas where improvement is possible, the risks involved make it uncertain. The crest at Flugplatz could potentially offer a slight increase in time, but pushing too hard can lead to disastrous outcomes. Similarly, gaining a fraction of a second on the high-speed stretch towards Schwedenkreuz may be achievable. However, reaching a speed of 173 mph before the sharp left turn is quite impressive for a road car without a massive rear wing.
The impressive handling of the M4 CS is evident as it navigates through numerous turns following the iconic Karussell. The driver pushes the car to its limits, and even with a keen eye, it’s difficult to identify any areas where improvements could be made. As anticipated, the highest speed is reached just after crossing the bridge on the main straightaway. The BMW reaches a top speed of 186 mph before aggressively braking for the last corners.
This thrilling drive inside the car fully exploits all of the power from the M4’s 543-horsepower twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, along with the unique suspension tuning designed for the CS model. Manufacturing of this coupe, priced at $124,675, will start in July.
