According to Marta Garcia, executive president of WWCOTY, the recent election was exceptionally challenging as all the candidates displayed an exceptional level of excellence. “Every finalist possessed enough merit to be a deserving winner of the trophy,” she stated. Ultimately, the Kia EV9 emerged victorious over its competitors due to its ability to meet the demands of consumers worldwide.
The Kia EV9 stood out among a pool of five finalists, all of which were recognized for their outstanding performance in their respective categories. The judges were particularly impressed by its “innovative design, integration of advanced technology, and its ability to support both bidirectional and ultra-fast charging.” This exceptional SUV was first awarded the title of Best SUV, and then went on to claim the coveted title of World’s Best Car for 2024. The other winners in their respective categories include the Volvo EX30 for Best Family Car, the BMW 5 Series for Best Large Car, the Volkswagen Amarok for Best 4×4 & Pick-up, and the Aston Martin DB12 for Best Exclusive Car.
The competition debuted with 63 automotive contenders, each introduced in at least two different regions between the dates of January 1 and December 31, 2023. These vehicles underwent a rigorous assessment by a panel of 75 female journalists specialized in the field, hailing from 52 nations across the globe.
The Kia EV9 has added another prestigious award to its impressive list of accolades – the title of Best Car of 2024 by WWCOTY. It’s no surprise, as earlier this year in January, the electric SUV won the coveted North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year (NACTOY) 2024 SUV of the Year. The Ford Super Duty took home the NACTOY’s Truck of the Year trophy, with the Toyota Prius claiming the 2024 Car of the Year honor.
