2026: All-Electric Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

Large Electric Sedan Follows Up

UK publication Autocar has verified that an electric equivalent for the Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV is due to arrive in 2026, with a large sedan after it on the same lines as the Porsche Taycan and Lucid Air. The modern iteration of the Stelvio crossover is hugely popular across Europe, making it a primary target when implementing electrification of the brand. It is likely that Alfa Romeo will largely maintain the shape and purpose of the current Stelvio with its electric version, which is just what they intend to do with the upcoming electric Giulia sedan.

The Stelvio electric version will be based upon the STLA Large platform created by Stellantis. This platform is also going to be implemented to a new, still untitled, full-sized executive sedan made by Alfa.

The two vehicles should both exploit the same powertrain as the electric Giulia, or at least its introductory trims, producing 345hp. More than that, the Veloce model has the tendencies to generate nearly 800hp while extreme adaptations will edge close to 1000hp comparable to the Giulia Quadrifolio. The fuel-only Stelvio Quadrifolio, on the other hand, provides 505hp.

It’s likely that the large sedan will be unveiled in 2028 and most likely accompanied by a “built-up model,” according to Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato. This model is widely thought to be an SUV, which would compete with the BMW iX and Mercedes EQE SUV.

“The big sedan and SUV will be Alfa’s key to, hopefully, finally making a mark in the US market and the even larger Chinese market,” said Imparato. He went on to emphasize that range will be a major factor in the sedan’s success, with the new luxury minimum being 350-400 miles. “When you talk about range, you’re talking about a sedan,” Imparato stated, which appears to confirm its viability as a competitor to the Lucid Air and Mercedes-Benz EQS.

Imparato’s suggestion is that the manufacturing of the upcoming EVs may be done in Cassino, Italy. While it has not been affirmed yet, if this were to come true, it would add a certain level of prestige to driving an Alfa Romeo electric automobile. Furthermore, having a 1,000 horsepower Stelvio with the Quadrifolio insignia would be sensational.
