GTstreet R Lite: Dialing Back the Oomph for a More Introverted Ride

After the successful launch of the highly-specialized and performance-driven TechArt GTstreet R Flyweight in the previous year, the renowned German tuning company has recently unveiled its newest addition to the customized 911 lineup – the GTstreet R Touring.The GTstreet R Touring follows the same principles as its track-focused counterpart, but with a more refined approach suitable for everyday driving. The modifications made by TechArt enhance the already impressive performance of the Porsche 911, without compromising its usability on the roads.One of the key changes is the addition of a carbon fiber roof, replacing the standard steel one. This reduces the car’s weight by 22 pounds and improves its center of gravity, resulting in sharper handling and improved overall performance.Moreover, TechArt has tweaked the engine to produce 800 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful 911s on the market. The modifications include a new exhaust system, bigger turbos, and an upgraded intercooler. The GTstreet R Touring, like its 2021 predecessor, is derived from the Porsche 911 Turbo S. Yet, in contrast, the aero additions on the Touring are more subdued and follow Porsche’s naming pattern for the GT3 series. This serves as a more discreet option for individuals who desire top-notch speed without the overt flashiness of the previous GTstreet R models.

The Touring edition of the GTstreet R maintains the same carbon fiber body kits as the original, but with the added perk of extensive customization options. Yet, TechArt has toned down the flashy appearance of the GTstreet R Touring by replacing the multi-tiered wing with a more refined carbon fiber ducktail spoiler. This sleek spoiler boasts to be 60% lighter than the standard 911 Turbo’s wing. Additionally, there are larger cooling ducts incorporated into the design, which improves airflow to the upgraded twin-turbo flat-six engine.

Similar to the other models in the GTstreet R lineup and the GTsport that was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2021, TechArt presents two tuning choices for the Touring. This is accomplished through upgraded turbochargers, a new ECU, and enhanced transmission control. With the TA092/T1.1 option, the 3.7-liter flat-six engine generates an impressive 700 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque – a significant boost of 59 hp and 74 lb-ft from the base 911 Turbo S.

The TA092/T2.1 upgrade, known for its incredible performance, boasts an impressive output of 790 horsepower and 701 pound-feet of torque. Its superior power allows it to go from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 217 mph. This makes it the most potent version yet.

TechArt modifies the handling of the car by expanding the track by 1.2 inches and decreasing the suspension by one inch. Additionally, there is an alternative to adjust the coilover kit for additional personalization. To complete the package, TechArt includes lightweight 20-/21-inch Formula VI forged wheels with a center-lock design. The interior of the GTstreet R Touring offers a multitude of options for customization, including leather, heritage textiles, and customized seat pipings in various colors.

The GTstreet R Touring customization package is restricted to only 25 units, making it even more exclusive than the original GTstreet R but not quite as uncommon as the Flyweight edition. Each conversion begins at a price of 98,250 euros or approximately $107,520 at the current exchange rate, in addition to the standard 911 Turbo S’s manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

The commencement of deliveries is set for May of 2024.
