Impressive Design: The Cooper Electric Classic Base Model

Several months ago, the Mini Cooper Electric Hardtop made its debut. Today, the car company is featuring its Classic trim, giving us a preview of what will probably be the top-selling option in the lineup.

Despite being marketed as the entry-level option, there’s nothing about the Classic trim that screams budget-friendly. In fact, its funky exterior hues perfectly embody the fun and whimsical essence of the electric mini. The car’s vibrant paint options can be further enhanced with a different-colored roof and mirror caps. A prime example is the Cooper E Classic shown below, complete with a Sunny Side Yellow body, white-painted mirrors, and a striking black roof to add some contrast.

The Mini brand offers standard LED headlights with distinct lighting patterns. Buyers have a variety of aerodynamic wheel options, ranging from 16 to 18 inches. The car boasts a luxurious appearance, similar to what you would anticipate from a Mini vehicle. However, for customers looking for a touch of extravagance, the sporty JCW model is available as an alternative.

The Cooper Electric Classic boasts unique details throughout its interior. Its surfaces are adorned in a stylish black and blue knit material, adding a touch of sophistication to the vehicle. The seats are trimmed with Vescin, a synthetic leather that comes in either black or grey, featuring a chic perforated houndstooth design.

The Cooper Classic models now come equipped with Active Cruise Control technology, which monitors the road conditions and maintains a safe distance between the Mini and the vehicle ahead. Additionally, these cars are also equipped with a convenient Parking Assistant feature, which takes over the parking process in busy cities, making it easier for drivers to maneuver their vehicles into tight spaces.

BMW’s subsidiary, Mini, has recently released a new line of electric vehicles that showcases the brand’s commitment to utilizing sustainable materials. One notable example is the Countryman model, which incorporates recyclable materials into its dashboard design. Additionally, for their limited edition Cooper SE Convertible, Mini went a step further and used completely recycled wheels.

The starter model, the Cooper Electric, generates a 184 horsepower and 215 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to swiftly reach a speed of 62 mph from a standstill in just 7.3 seconds. This makes it a fast option for a compact electric vehicle designed for daily commuting.

This article discusses the enjoyable driving experience of the Mini Cooper E, with its swift steering and excellent handling. The brand boasts of enhancements to the car’s track width and wheelbase for improved agility. Moreover, the electric motors add a quick and responsive element to the vehicle, reminiscent of the iconic go-kart feeling often associated with Minis.

The 40.7-kilowatt-hour battery offers a driving distance of approximately 190 miles according to the WLTP evaluation and can be recharged from 10 to 80% in a mere 28 minutes with a DC charger.

It is currently unknown if Mini will bring the entry-level Cooper Electric to the United States, but it is highly anticipated. The traditional gasoline-powered Mini Cooper was recently introduced for those who prefer their Minis to run on ICE-based engines.
