Only Fusion Energi PHEV Affected
In July 2020, Ford decided to make an exit from the sedan market in America, startling many industry experts. Despite the fact that the Fusion had been selling over 100,000 units in each of the years 2018, 2019, and 2020, the production was abruptly halted. Nonetheless, there are still a vast quantity of Fusions on the highways in the United States, with Ford having just recently raised an alert concerning a recall for the car.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has divulged the specifics of notice number 23V440000, which affects 14,452 examples of Ford Fusion vehicles. Specifically, the impacted versions are Fusion Energi from model years 2019 and 2020. Carriages affected were manufactured between December 6th, 2017 and July 27th, 2020 and are equipped with 30 Ah high-voltage batteries. The NHTSA makes clear that certain cars are outfitted with a Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) that may be impaired because of higher than usual levels of voltage and electric current. This could lead to the vehicle losing power or catching fire, raising the possibility of a collision or harm. The source of the Control Interrupt Device initiation yet stays ambiguous and the vehicle manufacturer is investigating it.
At this time, a solution has yet to be created. Ford is busy making a fix and they instruct owners of possibly affected vehicles not to charge them. A notice regarding the potential danger will be sent out on July 10th; a subsequent letter concerning the remedy should shortly follow.
This isn’t the first time this year that Fusion has had a recall. Already in March, Ford proclaimed a remember for 1,167,825 units of the sedan from 2013 to 2018 models. The issue was pertinent to the front brake jounce hoses and the company said the repair would be an easy process – replacing both the front jounce hoses and inspection of the brakes. Nevertheless, only non-hybrid vehicles were influenced by this recall.
