Genesis GV80 Coupe at NY Auto Show

Luxury Brand: A Sneak Peek Ahead.

Genesis has unveiled its newest design, the GV80 Coupe Concept, at Genesis House in New York City. However, the South Korean luxury car brand did not make any promises of putting this vehicle into production. But they did confirm that it “serves as a statement of intent for the future, hinting towards more emotional and performance-oriented models.”

We anticipate that the GV80 Coupe Concept is going to be manufactured in the near future; fingers crossed! Visually, this four-seat car embodies the spirit of the X Speedium Coupe Concept that was revealed at last year’s New York Auto Show. Compared to the common GV80 SUV, this concept features a more lifestyle and sports car-like overview. As far as exteriors go, this vehicle is hard to miss!

Take heed of the bold, broad-base, and big-sized alloy rims as well as multiple performance components such as a higher back spoiler as well as the spoiler lip located on the egg-shaped ducktail – this according to Genesis promises to provide down-propelment at increased velocities.

Regarding presentation, this model is definitely not an EV (Electric Vehicle), or at least it does not appear to be. There are four grilles situated in the front bumper to help improve cooling operations. This media alert failed to include any information regarding what lies contained within the engine.

The Double G-Matrix Patterned Crest Grille certainly stands out, with its quad headlights wrapping around to the side and boasting multi-lens array technology. It’s also worth noting the “Designed by Genesis” plaque on the front fender, along with the five-spoke forged aluminum wheels at each corner. To top it all off, you’ll find a carbon fiber roof that not only reduces the center of gravity, but also trims away weight.

At the back, the rear lamps “complete the Two Lines signature.” This striking and vibrant exterior paint colour is aptly named Magma. The interior is also one-of-a-kind for Genesis. There are four bucket seats that offer the necessary support when cornering. Each seat has a carbon fiber backrest with a body colour finish. The G-Matrix strut brace located behind the rear seats provides extra structural rigidity.

No one ever supposed this Sports Utility Vehicle was originally designed to cart groceries around – that’s a fact. Within the cabin, one can expect a three-spoke steering wheel, luxurious black Nappa and suede leather front and rear seats with intricate double stitching, adding orange piping and carbon fiber textures to the overall look.

“When Genesis was first established, luxury sedans were the focus, leading to the development of the G70, G80, and G90 models,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Group Chief Creative Officer. “In the past seven years, we have expanded our lineup to include more lifestyle-oriented vehicles like the GV80 and GV70 SUVs. Now, we are taking things a step further with cars that emphasize performance and dynamics, and truly capture the essence of the Genesis brand.”

Genesis is showing their enthusiasm for a more athletic and performance orientated set up with their GV80 Coupe Concept, aiming at rivals such as the BMW X6. We are all totally behind this progression!
