Genesis Hybrid Supercar Packs 1,071-HP V6

Berlinetta VGT Comes to Gran Turismo

Genesis showcased a life-size model of the X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo concept at the GT World Series ultimate championship in Barcelona, Spain.

The X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo from Genesis is their modern version of a supercar, like the Essentia Coupe that was presented at the 2018 New York Auto Show. The newest concept features stronger styling, inspired by the brand’s “Athletic Elegance” design.

Appearance-wise, the new Genesis concept features designs reminiscent of its actual production vehicles, like the G90 and GV80. Alongside the complex body lines, LED lighting outlines the classic Two Lines and Crest grille that characterize the brand.

Genesis states that the vibrant magma hue of the car is a reflection of the Korean ethos. They explain how it is inspired by “Korea’s volcanoes and the emotion, passion, and vibrancy of the nation’s culture.” At the back of the car, there is a lightning motif that is visible. The rear fascia has an oval shape and Genesis claims that the bodywork of the car has a drag coefficient of 0.34, which is not the most aerodynamic but still impressive.

Inside, the supercar boasts a cabin crafted from carbon, inspired by Genesis’ concept of ‘Beauty of White Space’. The interior is designed to provide a race-focused cockpit, with a digital panoramic interface for information and a surround digital monitoring system. An advanced steer-by-wire system also ensures “precise and decisive maneuvering.”

A mid-engined Lambda 11 V6 powerplant lies beneath the bonnet of the incredible supercar, fuelled by Genesis’ cutting-edge E-SC technology. While solely the combustion engine is capable of pumping out 870 horses and spinning up to 10,000 rpm, the joint efficiency with the 201bhp electric motor produces a splendid 1,071 hp and a great 986 lb-ft of torque.

“Our goal was to create a timeless design entrenched in the spirit of motorsport,” said John Krsteski, Genesis Senior Chief Designer. “We wanted to capture the passion and excitement of motorsports and infuse it into the vehicle’s design, while also ensuring that the vehicle still held a classic, timeless aesthetic.”

“Our design team is incredibly diverse and consists of car and racing fans. They were delighted to have the chance to create a race car that incorporated both Genesis design aspects and technical performance features. This project has been a source of motivation for our other projects.”

The X Gran Berlinetta Virtual Grand Touring concept will become accessible in Gran Turismo 7 beginning in January of the upcoming year. Those who follow the Manufacturer’s Mug airing within GT7 will be rewarded with pre-emptive access to the supercar design as a present within that month. Hopefully, it will be possible for us to observe it take to the streets much like McLaren did with the Solus GT, which was also introduced in the realm of virtual racing.

The Genesis notion is shortly to be coupled with further entrants to the Gran Turismo 7 list, for instance the Tesla Model 3 Performance, the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, plus the 2010 Lexus LFA.
