Upgraded Suspension With Retained 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8

For unknown reasons, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has not been considerably popular among those who design overlanding campers. In other words, we have seen fewer builds on this heavy-duty SUV than on more sophisticated and refined off-roaders. However, one aftermarket organization recently noticed the amazing potential of the blocky sports utility vehicle and decided to craft an overlanding vehicle utilizing the top specification AMG G63 model.

Pit26 Motorsports, a US-based distributor of suspensions and high-performance parts for the G-Class, showcases one of their toughest off-roading trucks to date. It was specifically designed for an outdoors enthusiast with an avid interest in exploration, and it comes in the form of a pickup truck, complete with ample room for overlanding gear. The wheelbase of this vehicle has been elongated by around 20 inches, while the suspension, comprising of portal axles, is heightened by about 5.9 inches.

The G63 from Pit26 Motorsports features 38×13.5 R18 Toyo MT tires, fitted onto custom-made 18-inch Innov8 Racing rims with a matte black color. Apart from the obvious visual upgrades, Bilstein coilovers and further underbody shielding offer extra protection. Special running boards have been designed specifically for this car, while the wheel arches have been enlarged to fit the off-roading tires better. What’s more, a new Magnaflow exhaust system treats drivers to an extraordinary sound when driving through rural areas.

When discussing the engine, there has been no mention of any alterations to the 4.0-liter twin-turbo powerplant of the G63. Subsequently, this eight-cylinder unit is sustaining its standard factory output of 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Pit26 Motorsports has similarly preserved the transmission, and claims that the vehicle can be simply reverted back to its original look.

At long last, a specifically designed roof rack furnished with an altered incandescent lamp system. This apparatus includes a custom-made adaptor to integrate an IKamper Mini tent for open-air slumbering. In the pick-up bed, you can find a twofold bicycle racking arrangement.
