Jeep’s inaugural electric release, the powerful US-bound Wagoneer, slated for fall 2024 debut.
On Thursday, Jeep made the exciting announcement that it will be introducing its very first electric vehicle, the Wagoneer S, to the US market in the autumn of 2024. As part of the reveal, the company shared a brief teaser video, one image of the car, and some impressive figures: 600 horsepower and a 0-60 time of approximately 3.5 seconds.
According to Jeep, the Wagoneer S is a unique battery-powered vehicle. It will be equipped with Jeep’s 4xe all-wheel drive and the brand’s advanced all-terrain management system as standard features.
At this time, there is no information available regarding the battery size, trims, motor technology, or pricing for the Wagoneer S. However, it is expected that Jeep will gradually release more specifics as the anticipated on-sale date of fall 2024 draws near. The SUV will initially be available for purchase in the United States before expanding to other “key markets around the world” at a later time.
According to Jeep, the Wagoneer S has been designed with a focus on “aerodynamic efficiency.” The initial image released showcases a frontal view of a more streamlined and less boxy structure, which is a departure from the typical Jeep design. The two blade-like side inlets located on either side of the lower bumper bear a resemblance to those found on another upcoming electric SUV, the Lucid Gravity, which is also being built in the US. The iconic seven-slot grille of the company is now LED-lit, and the rear of the vehicle is expected to feature a solid LED light bar, based on the brief glimpses provided in the teaser video. In fact, the overall appearance of the car appears to be almost identical to the concept version that was unveiled by Jeep in 2022.
The upcoming Wagoneer S and Recon are set to become the inaugural electric models in Jeep’s lineup, with the latter anticipated to hit the market in 2024. As part of their strategy to revamp their offerings, Jeep will be introducing their initial electrical car, the Avenger, which has already been released in Europe earlier this year.
