Tesla’s 1020-hp Sedan Defeats Dodge Challenger Demon 170 in Drag Race
Undoubtedly, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 stands as the most powerful factory legal drag car in existence. With record-breaking potential on the quarter-mile track, this vehicle features a supercharged V8 engine capable of generating an astounding 1025 horsepower alongside custom drag-ready tires, suspension modifications and even an innovative transmission brake. However, it still falls short of the Tesla Model S Plaid.
Brooks Weisblat from the DragTimes YouTube page invited both of the missiles of acceleration to Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida for a recent race to decide which could be faster in a quarter mile drag.
At the beginning of the trio of contests, the Plaid made a huge leap off the line and the Demon was left far in the wake. In the subsequent race, the two vehicles competed neck-and-neck for a few moments prior to the Tesla edging forward and claiming success. The third tussle was unfortunately lacking, as the Demon driver botched the departure meaning that it was easy pickings for the Plaid.
Weisblat indicates that these cars are more closely balanced than what the results display. In actuality, there is a probability that if it gets a flawless start, the Demon could triumph over the Tesla Model S Plaid. Even so, in reality, steering the Tesla is much easier, signifying it can always provide rapid quarter-mile speeds. The Dodge, though, needs an adept motorist and best-suited environment to draw out its utmost potential.
No matter the findings, we would consistently opt for Dodge if forced to make a selection.
