2023 Toyota GR86 | TOP SPEED POV on GERMAN AUTOBAHN

The Toyota GR86 may not be as swift when lined up against other sports cars yet it is still an enjoyable vehicle to operate taking into account its affordability. The dual Toyobaru models purported to prioritize delivering an extraordinary driving experience. This automobile is lithe and light on its toes, providing such a pleasure to navigate curled lanes.

The GR86 boasts an all-natural 2.4-liter boxer-style power plant. Despite omitting any turbochargers once again in the sequel, it has a notably more robust engine that dishes out 228 horsepower and 250Nm of torque. This is an evident step-up from the previous generation’s 2.0-liter which churned out merely 205 hp.

The GR86’s powertrain is matched with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission – the handbook being praised as responsive and snappy. This GR86 analysed by AutoTopNL was equipped with the manual option. While testing on the unrestricted sections of the Autobahn, the driver in the video aimed to reach the coupé’s declared maximum velocity, which is roughly 140 mph (226 km/h) – a considerable maximum speed for an automobile in this price bracket.

As visible in the video, the driver did not only successfully reach the highest attainable speed, but even surpassed it. Significantly, the odometer showed 142 mph (229 km/h), where it stayed for some time.

When it comes to speed, the GR86 takes about 6.1 seconds to go from 0-60 mph (97 km/h), which is a respectable speed for cars of its class but may lag behind some of its challengers. In spite of this, the GR86 more than compensates with its exceptional handling abilities.

Mentioned earlier, the Toyota GR86 models have become a frequent selection amongst customizers since they offer a reasonably priced base car to begin customizing. Evidently Toyota and several tuners went full out when adjusting the little sports car, as proven by the seven distinct versions unveiled in Japan.
