New 540-HP Pickup Available for Purchase at $71,990 Later This Year
After discontinuing the TRX, the latest 2025 Ram 1500 RHO has become the brand’s most athletic option. While it doesn’t directly replace the TRX due to its lower cost and power, it will soon become the flagship model in Ram’s fresh Sport truck series, which features the Rebel, Warlock, and Power Wagon.
Beneath the hood of the RHO lies the upgraded edition of Stellantis’s Hurricane engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine produces 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque.
The truck can accelerate to 60 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds and reach 100 mph in 11.7 seconds. It takes 13.1 seconds to cover a quarter-mile at a speed of 105 mph, with a maximum speed of 118 mph. However, the truck’s strengths go beyond just speed.
Beneath the huge wheel wells are Bilstein’s Black Hawk e2 adaptive performance shocks, which are identical to the ones utilized on the TRX by Ram. They have been adjusted for the RHO’s weight distribution, since the Hurricane engine is approximately 150 pounds lighter compared to the Hemi V-8. The vehicle is also equipped with forged aluminum front upper and lower control arms, recalibrated spring rates, active performance damping, and various enhancements. It sits two inches taller than the other models in the 1500 series.
The BorgWarner 48-13 full-time active transfer case with enhanced internals for better strength and a 2.64:1 low range is located behind the transmission. In the rear, there is a Dana 60 rear axle equipped with full-floating axle shafts, a rear electronic differential, and an axle hop damper. The frame’s hard points were modified by engineers to accommodate up to 14 inches of rear axle travel, which is 1 inch more than the previous setup.
The RHO has undergone an upgrade to a high-flow intake system with a large radial air filter that has been designed by engineers to be easily removable for convenient cleaning in the field. Additionally, it is equipped with a revamped low-resistance exhaust system that has dual pipes leading to five-inch exhaust tips.
The RHO model comes with extra width, measuring eight inches wider than the standard 1500, all thanks to its large composite fender flares. These flares accommodate a wider six-inch track, 18-inch beadlock wheels, and 35-inch tires. Ram has given this truck a distinctive hood and grille featuring a larger, flow-through badge. LED headlights, steel bumpers, big tow hooks, and skid plates add to its rugged appearance, while buyers have the option to choose between full-length rock rails or powder-coated aluminum running boards.
Despite its rugged appearance, the RHO’s cabin offers a comfortable environment for relaxation. The front seats are made of leather and have twelve-way power adjustments, along with heating, ventilation, and massage features. Drivers can take charge of the powerful engine with the aluminum paddle shifters. Additionally, there is a unique badge on the center console that displays the vehicle’s VIN and a picture of a rhinoceros.
The RHO is equipped with a maximum of three interior screens. The digital instrument cluster measures 12.3 inches, while the infotainment system screen measures 14.5 inches and operates the fifth-generation Uconnect system. A 10.25-inch screen in front of the passenger includes an HDMI port for screen mirroring.
While its primary purpose is for off-road adventures and conquering rough terrain, this vehicle is capable of towing up to 8,380 pounds and has a payload capacity of 1,520 pounds. Additionally, it can traverse through 32 inches of water and offers 11.8 inches of ground clearance.
Beginning today, the Ram 1500 RHO is available for purchase. The cost starts at $71,990, which covers a destination charge of $1,995. The truck will become part of Ram’s Sport truck collection, joining the Warlock, Rebel, and Power Wagon models in the third quarter of 2024.
