Unveiling Rivian’s Newest Electric SUV: Price, Range, Acceleration, and Size Revealed!

Rivian has previewed their upcoming R2 electric SUV through X, offering a sneak peek of the backside. At the same time, avid Rivian enthusiast and owner Chris Hilbert seems to have revealed details about the new crossover, including the starting price, mileage range, acceleration numbers, seating capacity, dimensions, and even the approach and departure angles.

Let’s begin with the cost, reportedly set at $47,500. CEO RJ Scaringe stated that the R2 would fall within the range of $40,000 to $60,000, and it appears that he is staying true to his word, despite continuing challenges from the previous year that will carry over until 2024.

According to the tweet, additional specifications have been revealed such as its range of approximately 330 miles and its impressive 0-60 mph acceleration of just three seconds. Details on the size of the vehicle have also been disclosed, with the R2 said to measure 185.6 inches in length, 75 inches in width (excluding mirrors; 84.4 inches including mirrors), and standing at a height of 66.9 inches.

According to reports, the R2 model is expected to have a maximum ground clearance of 9.8 inches. It is also said that the vehicle will be outfitted with 32-inch tires and feature an approach angle of 25 degrees and a departure angle of 27°. Details about the breakover angle have not been disclosed, but hopefully, Mr. Scaringe will provide us with this information when the R2 is unveiled in two days.

It seems that the upcoming R2 model will bear a striking resemblance to the existing R1S. The most recent teaser image reveals a full-width taillight bar and a black roof, which align with the previous teaser’s depiction of R1-inspired front end styling. It’s likely that the interior of the R2 will share similarities as well; after all, why alter a successful design?

On March 7, the public will have the chance to see the unveiling of the latest version of R2. This highly anticipated event will also mark the opening of reservations by Rivian, where interested customers can place fully refundable deposits.
