Named After Spanish Factory: Company’s Key Site
Hispano Suiza has just announced the name of its upcoming electric hypercar, which is set to debut in 2024. The model has been dubbed the “Sagrera”, a tribute to one of the Spanish car maker’s most important factories from the 20th century, located in La Sagrera district of Barcelona.
This year, Hispano Suiza has revamped its corporate image and is looking to capitalize on the accomplishments of the previous models, the Carmen and Carmen Boulogne. The economy car, called the Sagrera, is named in tribute to the business’ storied past voyaging back to its founding in 1904.
The choice to call the hypercar after La Sagrera partakes of special weight, since it was in that location that Hispano Suiza’s primary immense factory was inaugurated in 1911. It became a signifier of the organization’s advance and engineering power.
“La Sagrera has been an integral part of Hispano Suiza’s history, helping us to reach new heights. As we celebrate our 120th anniversary, we are delighted to be able to honor La Sagrera by taking its name around the globe with our brand-new hypercar,” stated Miguel Suqué Mateu, President of Hispano Suiza. This is a fitting way to pay tribute to the Barcelona district and recognize its importance to the company’s success.
Hispano Suiza has remained rather tight-lipped regarding particulars of the forthcoming Sagrera electric hypercar, aside from noting its 103-kWh battery pack – a bit smaller than the one found on the competition’s Rimac Nevera. It’s presently being assessed at Carmen Boulogne, however we can infer that the new model will presumably boast improved aerodynamics.
“The Sagrera is the culmination of the steady evolution of the Carmen and the Carmen Boulogne. It has also set the groundwork for the design line that the company will be pursuing in the coming years. Although I can’t give away too much information right now, I can say that this car was created in response to the wishes of our customers – they asked for something like this, and we wanted to ensure that it remained unique,” said Sergio Martínez Campos, CEO of Hispano Suiza.

Hispano Suiza has promised that the Sagrera will bring “performance, sportiness, and passion for luxury to a whole new level,” so we anticipate that it will exceed what its current lineup provides.
thanks to its twin-turbocharged V6 powerplant. If the Carmen Boulogne is taken as a model, the Sagrera could be equipped with a quartet of electric engines that would be able to muster up an impressive 1,100 horsepower. Currently, the most powerful Carmen is capable of showing off an amazing 180 mph top speed and can accelerate from 0-62mph in mere seconds at 2.6, this is due to its twin turbocharged V6 motor.
