Volvo EX30 EV: 0-60 in 3.4 Secs, Rivals Beware!
Volvo has launched its EX30, an all-electric crossover to challenge the Swedish brand’s rivals. This newly-introduced vehicle boasts of performance ratings akin to those found only in supercars, coupled with a price point predominantly observed in vehicles from the likes of Chevrolet and Ford. In short, the EX30 is designed to revolutionize the premium electric automotive industry.
At a grand unveiling in Milan, Italy, Volvo’s leader, Jim Rowan proudly declared, “Though the EX30 is our most diminutive SUV to date, it still represents a monumental milestone for our patrons and ourselves!”
The EX30 is the beginning of the company’s fully-electric lineup, boasting the future Volvo EX90 crossover at its peak. Keeping with similar styling, there will also be a digitized version of Volvo’s trademark Thor’s Hammer headlights incorporated.
Volvo’s past motor vehicles centered largely on specialty offerings, such as the 850 R Sports Wagon and C30 R-Design Polestar hatchback. However, the EX30 crossover makes passionate Volvo driving more readily accessible and faster.
Boasting a powerful 422-horsepower twofold engine system, the EX30 will sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in a lightning-quick 3.4 seconds; thus, rendering it the fastest production Volvo ever manufactured. Even those equipped with the entry-level 268-horsepower single-motor system will still be capable of an amazing 5.1 second 0-60 acceleration.
The company is hinting at a launch price of $34,950 (not including delivery fees) for the bottom-of-the-line EX30, yet has yet to announce a price tag on the dual-motor variety for those who crave more power. Pre-orders are currently available with actual shipping beginning during summer 2024. To put its own spin on the Volvo S90 Cross Country, an EX30 Cross Country with enhanced clearance and personalization possibilities will be added in to the series in 2024.
The EX30 is set to be assembled in China with no sign of being manufactured in Volvo’s South Carolina facility yet. This could mean the EV tax credits from the federal government may be applicable when buying this particular crossover vehicle.
