Tweet: V6 Aria – 24-Sec Video
In advance of its international unveiling on June 30th, Maserati has created a sensational video to whet our appetites. Much unlike many other teasers before – that show only miniscule parts of the car and hide it through smoke and dim lighting – this offering conclusively depicted the Nettuno V6 motor erupting in full speed.
Already having seen visuals of the Maserati MC20 GT2 in March, the manufacturer supplied an early look of the car prior to its debut performance at Autodromo Varano de’ Melegari. The racing variant of the MC20 boasts the same powerplant as the motorcar edition with the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine comprising twin-combustion technology comparable to a Formula 1 engine. Rated at 621 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque, this model is matched with a eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph within 2.9 seconds before culminating in 201 mph.
Maserati are keeping the power statistics of the GT2 a secret, only stating that it is stronger than that of its road-legal counterpart. 24 seconds of ear-pleasing audio have been posted on Maserati Corse’s Twitter accounts; as the GT2 moves through the gears the sound is quite magnificent, with just a brief break in between gear shifts as it accelerates to maximum velocity.
Just a few weeks ago, Maserati unveiled a new teaser film, “Companions on a Journey,” which featured the MC20 Cielo, the GranTurismo Folgore, and the Grecale crossover. These three cars are indicative of the direction that Maserati is taking, with plans to discontinue the Ghibli by 2024. To compete with the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S Plaid, Maserati is also set to release a Maserati Quattroporte EV in 2021. But for now, we have the highly anticipated global premiere of the MC20 GT2 in just three days to look forward to. We can all remember the sound of its magnificent V6 engine.
The Maserati MC20 is an embodiment of fervor for the marque, featuring what it is proficient in and leading the revival of the iconic Trident symbol. Presently, attaining one will cost you close to three hundred thousand dollars. Notwithstanding, the duPont Register provides numerous vehicles with hardly any mileage at a more accessible rate.
