Last Ford GT Joins Unique Collection of LM and Heritage
It is a blend of joy and regret which abound in knowing the last Ford GT has been fabricated and awaits its delivery. Birthed to honor the 50th anniversary of Ford’s triumph at the 1966 Le Mans, this most current version of the GT had an awe-inspiring racing Career. To commemorate the moment with exultation, the best way to dispatch the ultimate car to its destination is stowed amidst numerous other Ford GTs.
The last automobile of its kind, Ford GT chassis N260-J211, glimmers in Antimatter Blue with gleaming graphite wheels and bright red brake calipers. At first glance it looks black and liquid but when direct light catches it the blue shines through triumphantly. As it rolls down the ramp from the transporter, it marks the conclusion of a journey that began with its presentation at the 2015 North American International Auto Show eight years ago.
The hushed abode of a connoisseur situated in Detroit, Michigan is the garage. Inside you will find an aggregation of BMWs with one Z8 and a Porsche 918. The predominant majority of the region is taken up by 20 Ford GTs varying from the Liquid Carbon edition to numerous Heritage Editions, two GT LM models and two older versions from 2005 to 2006.
Altogether, Ford manufactured 1,350 GTs in a six-year term spanning 2017 to 2023. During this time, the motorcar was given smaller revisions, such as fine-tuning of its engine for advanced power, optimized cooling, adapted suspension, and a stock titanium exhaust. The Ford GT achieved a stunning array of accomplishments in its racing career. From 2016 to 2019, it was managed by the Chip Ganassi Racing team. Initially, the vehicle acquired class victories at Le Mans in 2016, 24 Hours of Daytona, and IMSA series races at famous circuits like Laguna Seca, Lime Rock Park, Watkins Glen, and Road America.
